"We are here for the glory of God; to be the body of Christ, broken and restored to reflect the Gospel in our lives."

Choir

Saint Mary's Church Woodbridge Suffolk ChoirThe Choir is a group of committed people with an age range of 8 to 80+. We are often supplemented by ex-choristers, who have moved away but return from time to time.

We enjoy singing together and lead the worship at regular services of the church. We particularly enjoy learning challenging music for special festivals such as Christmas and Easter.

We regularly sing two anthems in the Sunday morning Eucharist service and sing Introits, Anthems, Evensong settings of the Canticles and Vespers at Evensong services on a broadly monthly basis. We also sing at weddings and funeral/memorial services when requested to do so.

Our repertoire spans the centuries from baroque to the present day - we usually sing Lennon & McCartney's 'Let it Be' at the Patronal Festival. It is customary to sing Mozart's Missa Brevis, and selections from Handel's Messiah, at Easter services.

We are affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music, and the younger choristers follow the RSCM training scheme and are awarded medallions and ribbons to mark their success.

We go on an outing together, usually in September.

Meetings: We practise twice a week: Thursday evenings: 6.30 - 8.00 p.m. for trebles and sopranos, and full practice 7.00 - 8.00 p.m. We also have a pre-service practice every Sunday at 9.30 a.m. before singing for the Parish Eucharist. For more information contact the Parish Office.

On the first Sunday of the month, and on the occasions of church festivals, we practise at 6.00 p.m. in preparation for Evensong at which we sing.
