Two consecutive Sundays, 26th June and 3rd July, were very important dates in the diary of one young lady. Her husband, son, family and friends gathered in the Cathedral at Bury St. Edmunds for the Ordination of Hannah Hupfield as a Deacon. The Rector of St. Mary’s Parish Church in Woodbridge, Revd. Canon Kevan McCormack, was also there to present her to the Bishop, for Hannah has been appointed as the new Assistant Curate at the church. This great occasion was made especially joyful for Hannah as her Mother, who had been poorly, was able to be present on her daughter’s great day.
The following Sunday, Hannah took her place with the clergy at the services in St Mary’s, where the legal formalities were carried out by the Rector and she was welcomed by everyone. Following the Parish Eucharist, where Hannah read the Gospel so clearly and confidently, a welcome lunch was served in the Church Centre. This was an opportunity for Hannah to begin the awesome task of learning who-is-who and who-does-what! Little Peter thoroughly enjoyed exploring his new environment and endeared himself to all. Hannah circulated and conversed with grace and skill. First impressions were most favourable, with her being described as mature, bright, kind, loving, outgoing, eager to learn, sincere and with a quiet sense of humour. We all look forward very much to the next three years of Hannah’s ministry with, for and amongst us all, and we extend to her, together with Tim and Peter, our love and support.
Welcome aboard, Hannah!
