Parish pump (2)
Parish pump SOS: funding our church repairs St Mary’s PCC has a mission – to protect and repair a Grade 1 listed building that has been at the heart of the local community for more than 500 years. The church tower and other areas are in urgent need of repairs which will cost just over £146,000 and the work has to start as soon as possible to save the building from further damage. While we have already been able to raise and set aside more than £70,000 towards the cost of this work, we are looking for further support, from major charities and from individuals and organisations who value the building and what it offers the local community. Starting with the St Mary’s Open Day on Easter Monday, there are likely to be a series of events in the future to raise awareness and, where appropriate donations in aid of the church repairs fund. The aim is to attract support, not only from regular members of the congregation but also from the wider community who value the church for its beauty as a building and for the many functions it performs.
