Thanks for your support!
Thanks for your support! Woodbridge Town Council, Deben Scouts Service, The Scarfe Trust, The Ganzoni Trust and the Suffolk Historic Churches Trust are just some of the locally based organisations that have generously contributed to the current St Mary’s repair bill. Other contributions towards a grand total of over £110,000 at the time of writing include a whole host of events, including a church open day and exhibition, a bring and buy sale, tea at the Hares’ Martello Tower in Felixtowe and a cheese and wine party at the rectory. A big thank you to all those who have supported what is our gradually rising fabric fund. While as John Wright notes (above) the first phase of work is well underway and should be complete before Christmas, there is still much to do to protect St Mary’s for the long term, both in 2012 and beyond. If you or your organisation can offer financial or other help we would be very glad to hear from you. Be a Friend of St Mary’s Future repairs and other vital conservation work at St Mary’s will be supported by a new Friends charity which is due to begin activities early in 2012. At its last meeting, St Mary’s PCC agreed to set up the Friends of St Mary’s Parish church with a brief to “raise funds for the restoration, preservation, repair, maintenance and improvement” of the church, along with other special items requested by the PCC. A first meeting of the Friends is due to take place by mid January 2012, details of which will be at the back of the church and other selected outlets. To find out more phone 385384
