Spiritual Life Winter Prayer Walks 2011-2012 These are prayerful walks through the local countryside, stopping occasionally to observe the wonders of the natural world and to listen to inspiring readings and prayers. We often include time in a village church and end with refreshments in a local hostelry! The walks are led by Michael Stagg, retired Suffolk Heritage Coast Warden and Elder. Everyone is welcome. We car-share and all walks are circular. We gather at 10 am to start walking at 10.15. To come along you just need to add your name to the list which is near the notice board at the back of St Mary’s church, or ring Michael and Margie. Tuesday November 29 Walking into Advent – Melton to Ufford, including Ufford St Mary’s church, across the fields and in quiet lanes, returning through the reed beds by the upper stretch of the river Deben. Friday January 6 Epiphany Walk around the area of Pin Mill (pictured above), on the river Orwell, on the theme of travelling in company towards the Light. Thursday February 2 A walk to celebrate Candlemas: the Presentation of our Lord in the Temple. A gentle walk around Ramsholt, beside the river Deben to All Saints church, where we hope to hold a service and light candles in this ancient church which still has no electricity. We would welcome suggestions, and your company to explore new walks, ideally between 3 and 5 miles in total, over reasonable terrain and with an open Church on the route and a nearby hostelry! Contact Michael or Margie Stagg on 387280.
