Spiritual Life Prayer Walks Our Spring and early Summer 2012 programme of guided prayer walks will again combine healthy rambling through the Suffolk countryside with time for spiritual reflection, leading to praise for the wonders of creation, and the Creator. These gentle walks, stopping to observe the wildlife and to listen – both to the natural sounds and to prayers and readings, can aid our understanding of our place on, and our responsibility for, the Earth. Where better to comprehend nature than by being surrounded by local landscapes under the broad skies beloved by East Anglian artists? Tuesday April 3 A Holy Week walk – from Melton picnic site to Ufford St Mary’s church, across the fields and in quiet lanes, returning through the reed beds by the upper stretch of the river Deben (3-4 miles). Meet at 10am to start walking at 10.15. Break for refreshments at the White Horse, Ufford. Wednesday May 2 A slightly more challenging walk (6.75 miles) around the Sizewell Belts Nature Reserve (pictured above). The route includes footpaths, coast path, two stiles and some short stretches of road. Meet at Sizewell Beach car park at 10am to start walking at 10.15. Half way refreshments at the Eel’s Foot in Eastbridge Friday June 15 An evening walk by the river Deben and around Martlesham creek, via Kyson point if the tide permits ! (3-4 miles max) Meeting at 6.30pm in St Mary’s churchyard, to start walking at 6.45pm. The summer evening walk last year was very popular and we hope that this timing will allow people who are not able to join the daytime walks to come along! Everyone is welcome. We car-share and all walks are circular. To join a walk, just add your name to the list near the notice board at the back of church, or ring Michael and Margie Stagg (387280) who also welcome ideas for possible future walks. Contact Michael or Margie Stagg on 387280.
