Reaching out
Spiritual Life Reaching out St Mary’s is a busy church! Below are some of our activities and issues, highlighted at the Woodbridge Deanery Synod in February. Presentations were made by St Mary’s and other local churches in response to the Woodbridge Deanery Plan. (Pictured above, Bishop Nigel (right) with Rector Kevan during an Epiphany service and below another family baptism) As a busy town church we offer a broad range of activities which are kept up to date on our website and a weekly pew sheet. These currently include: • The Emmaus Course and Learn on a Monday (LOAM) which are well attended. • Prayer walks, quiet days and pilgrimage. • The Network of Care to help keep people in touch with their neighbours and consider the needs of others • Providing ministry in local care homes • A lunch on the last Thursday of the month is open to all. (pre-book list in the back of the church) • Regular public concerts in the church. • Churches Together – eg refreshments from St Mary’s House for New Year’s Eve revellers on Market Hill. Our challenges for the future include: • Being more pro-active in promoting our activities. • Exploring with younger teenagers what activities they would appreciate the parish providing for them. • Assisting the Rector with additional follow-up support in relation to his work involving funerals (59 last year); marriages (20 pending) and the frequent baptisms. • Finding new ways to reach out to others - in the church and the wider community.
