Spiritual Life
Spiritual Life Prayer Walks The popularity of Prayer Walks is growing – in the Parish and Diocese and across the country – as more Christians come to see them as a reflection of our walk along the spiritual path. It is a joy to walk in company, in Christian love, and to be aware of God’s creation, and to praise and pray to God in the open air. The walks, organised and led by Michael Stagg from St Mary’s, have grown into informal ecumenical events – with walkers from different churches in the town and locality. Our prayer walks through the peaceful Suffolk countryside are open to all. They are gentle and undemanding, in caring company. Most include a short stop at a country church, and end with refreshments at a nearby hostelry. We generally meet at 10.00, to start walking at 10.15. We walk in all seasons and weathers. This winter we have walked each month from December to March – despite the rain and waterlogged ground, and in fact have walked in glorious sunshine more than once. We have walked through woodland and heathland, along river banks and through water meadows, across grazing land and through reed beds – in the areas of Newbourne and Dunwich, Ramsholt and Ufford. Everyone is welcome. See the schedule of our coming walks below. If you are interested to join a future walk, simply add your name to the list at the back of St Mary’s or telephone Michael Stagg (Tel 387280) to let him know.
