Helping people to help themselves During Christian Aid Week (11-17 May), Churches Together in Woodbridge and Melton do their best to cover every letterbox in Woodbridge and Melton parishes with a house-to-house collection for Christian Aid. We don't quite achieve our objective. (With your help, perhaps we could! If interested, ring me on 386786.) However, we do usually raise a bit over £5,000. Christian Aid is an aid agency, operating worldwide and attempting to alleviate poverty and injustice. Wherever possible, it works through local people and agencies. Typically, it aims to help people to help themselves by providing seeds, or a goat, or a sewing machine, to kick-start self-employment. When disaster strikes, such as a hurricane, Christian Aid will soon be there, working alongside other aid agencies, trying to satisfy basic needs. Most, though not all, collectors and aid workers are Christians; but the Aid goes to those in need, irrespective of class, colour or religion. Please support Christian Aid Week. Every Little Helps! Tony Waller The OK Chorale … in Concert for WaterAid Back for the second year running (but hoping there will be no snow this time!), the OK Chorale are delighted to present their annual spring concert at St Mary’s on Saturday 29 March at 7.30 pm. Tickets £5 (£2 under 16s), all profits to WaterAid. Expect lush harmonies from the Pacific, spine-tingling Corsican polyphony, a sprinkling of pop, infectious African rhythms, and even some English folk, in a vibrant celebration of harmony singing, with not an instrument in sight. Buy tickets online at www.chrisrowbury.com, or email chris@chrisrowbury.com or phone Chris Rowbury (Tel 610486) or at the door. Chris Rowbury
