With two concerts and a wine-tasting coming up (see below), pre-Christmas is a busy time for the Friends. Events like these boost the coffers and should leave us in a stronger position to support the next stage of the church building’s refurbishment. At the time of writing, we hear that work on the North Porch is due to begin in February –a big project which has the symbolic task of preserving the main public entrance to the church. Safe access and more events in church are arguably a battle cry for the Friends! So far we are ticking over pretty well, but we would like to extend our membership (currently around 120) and reach out to new parts of the local community. Are you involved? Would you like to be? Could you run an event on our behalf? To find out more about becoming a Friend contact Kay Yuill at email@example.com. Spirit of Woodbridge We were delighted at the response to our FoSM Spirit of Woodbridge photographic competition and exhibition, which attracted well over 100 ‘People’ and ‘Places’ entries, and travelled as an exhibition from St Mary's to Woodbridge Library and on to the Melton offices of our main sponsors, the solicitors Gotelees, who will sponsor again in 2017. Thanks also to The Table, Barrett's and Hot off the Press for their support! We've turned twelve of the winning pictures into a Spirit of Woodbridge 2017 calendar (pictured), now on sale for £6.50 in the Church Shop and at Chenevix Jewellery, both on Market Hill. Next year’s competition, with different themes, will be launched early in 2017. If you're interested in entering, keep an eye on our website for details: www.friends.stmaryswoodbridge.org.
