The Student Cross Pilgrims will again be visiting Woodbridge on Palm Sunday, on their way to Walsingham, carrying their huge heavy cross up Church Street and into St Mary’s for prayers, before enjoying a well- deserved meal provided by the church and finally bedding down for an overnight stay in the Church Centre. Enjoy a three-mile walk beside the River Blackwater to the Saxon chapel of St Peter- on-the-Wall at Bradwell. Follow this with a relaxing picnic among carpets of wild flowers and then join the other pilgrims for Holy Communion in the ancient chapel (pictured) before the coach journey home. Led by Assistant Priest John Hare – a big thank you to John for a number of very enjoyable Bradwell outings – this day pilgrimage has proved enduringly popular. Reporting on last year’s event, a very satisfied pilgrim wrote, ‘What all experienced was a delightful sense of peace and space around this seventh-century chapel, founded by St Cedd. Amazingly there is something of the atmosphere of a remote Celtic monastery in this isolated corner of Essex.’ This year’s Bradwell adventure is take place on Sunday 8 July. All welcome!
