Diamond congratulations!
Keith and Judy Dowse (below) photographed on their wedding day, 4 October 1958, at St Mary’s Parish Church, Sunbury-on-Thames. In 1965, they moved to Woodbridge and have been attending St Mary’s ever since! David and Margaret Lowe (right) were married on 18 October 1958 at All Saints’ Church, Wigston Magna, Leicestershire, and moved to Woodbridge in 1967. David served as a School Governor at St Mary’s School for 28 years, and as a Town Councillor, while Margaret led St Mary’s Mothers’ Union for twelve years, and for fifteen has been a church elder, with special responsibility for the Seckford Chapel and for Baptisms. Lots to look forward to with the MU By the time this report is in print, St Mary’s Mothers’ Union will have hosted this year’s World Day of Prayer, but there’s still lots to look forward to this summer! On 11 April, the Revd Siw Carlsson will lead an ‘Afternoon of Reflections for Lent’; and after Holy Communion on 9 May, Clare Perkins will talk to us about ‘Dressmaking and Working with Norman Hartnell’. Our summer outing, on 31 May, will be to Coventry Cathedral; and on 13 June we have our annual cream tea. We also keep busy with donations to family-focused charities. Birthday celebrations We had a special party in December to celebrate the 90 th birthdays of two of our members: Mavis Proctor (September), pictured in pink, and Betty Richardson (December) in blue. We gave them a cake each and sang ‘Happy Birthday!’ Here are a couple of very happy, smiley ladies with their cakes! All welcome We are a relatively small branch, but we are always pleased to welcome new members!! Our noticeboard (under the tower) is kept up-to-date with the latest news – do take time to have a look. Contacts: Jean Cobb (01473 621558) and Rachel Jolley (01394 766907). Jean Cobb
