Easter music at St Mary’s
St Mary’s Church Choir, led by choirmaster Bob Pegnall, will be helping to set the mood for our Easter worship. Starting on Good Friday, their interlude of reflective music at the Three Hours’ Devotion (2.00 pm slot) will include: ‘Lacrimosa’ from Mozart’s Requiem ‘Crucifixus’ – Lotti ‘Is it nothing to you?’ – Gore-Ouseley ‘O Saviour of the world’ – Goss ‘Jesus, remember me’ – Taizé At the Parish Eucharist on Easter Day, the choir will sing Mozart’s Missa Brevis in F and the Easter Hymn from Cavalleria Rusticana. And what could be lovelier on Easter evening than a traditional Choral Evensong? As well as hymns for everyone to sing, of course, there will be some special music from the choir: Introit: ‘This joyful Eastertide’ The Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in D – George Dyson ‘Ye choirs of new Jerusalam’ – C V Stanford And, finally, John Rutter’s lovely Vesper, ‘The Lord bless you and keep you.’ Come, and be inspired! Welcoming the pilgrims The Student Cross Pilgrims will again be passing through Woodbridge on Palm Sunday during their Holy Week Pilgrimage to Walsingham. They will be carrying their large wooden cross up Church Street and into St Mary’s Church for prayers at about 6.00 pm, before enjoying supper provided by the church and bedding down for an overnight stay in St Mary’s Church Centre. Easter Lilies Would you like to buy a lily in memory of a loved one this Easter? If so, please let the Parish Secretary have his/her name in capital letters (to avoid mistakes) and £3.50 per lily by Palm Sunday (14 April) at the latest. The lilies, with the names, will then be arranged in church for Easter.
