Rock Barracks march past
Sitting in the Galley Restaurant or loitering around Market Hill under a large umbrella was the perfect place to watch the Rock Barracks march past. A Freedom of Woodbridge celebration for our new local squaddies and their officers, this was an occasion when the pomp and civic pride was hardly dampened by the weather. But the weather - thunderclaps, monsoon showers and all - did its best to make an impression. Officers turned up with umbrellas, military capes prevailed and still the crowds turned out to clap and cheer. It may have been the wettest, stormiest June on record, but on this particular Friday the Army still managed to drum up a little thunder of its own.
