FEAST OF CORPUS CHRISTI
Jesus said, “ I am the living bread.”
This Sunday is a very special feast in our church family. Corpus Christi means “ Body of Christ”….. which is the wonderful gift that Jesus has given to his Church. He gave us a meal of bread and wine which we share in church at the EUCHARIST.
EUCHARIST means THANKSGIVING.
When we share the bread and wine in church at the EUCHARIST, we remember Jesus’ life and death and resurrection with praise and thanksgiving.
We have some activities for you about bread, wine, special meals and Jesus’ special meal at The Last Supper. At his last supper with his friends, Jesus shared bread and wine with them and told them to always REMEMBER him by sharing bread and wine.
That’s what we do in church when we receive the bread and wine from the priest at communion; we REMEMBER JESUS.
Watch the adults go up to receive their bread; it is a very small piece. When we receive it in communion, we know that Jesus is with us.
Soon, you will be old enough to share the bread and wine in church at communion too. Talk to your parents/carers about it.
Don’t forget your crayons if you can come to church.
This Sunday it is at 11am
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU
