A special concert will take place in St Mary’s church on the 5th of September. Thirty-six invited singers, some from as far afield as the USA and Australia, will come together to present a programme of music by composers from the east of England and the near continent, all born around the beginning of the 16th century.
The conductor will be Eamonn Dougan, deputy director of The Sixteen. The music will include the mass ‘Veni Sancte Spiritus’ by Pierre de Manchicourt and the monumental ‘Peccavimus cum patribus’ of Christopher Tye.
The group, which calls itself ‘The Woodbridge Music Party’, has been put together by the London music promoter Andrew van der Beek, who grew up in near Woodbridge in Easton, where his father was rector.
